Bio

The girl: My name is Amber. I'm a 26 year old residing in Calgary. I was, up until a few years ago, a hard core 'Ottawanian' [is that the correct way to say it?] who could never have imagined herself leaving her dear city and the people she knew and loved. All that changed when I called a relationship quits a few months before we were to be married. Leaving the city seemed like a very viable option. A decadent one, no less. So here I am, a city that is supposedly full of cowboys [I've only seen two real ones] and rolls around naked in it's oil production money [that is true]. I used to be a waitress, but when I moved here I started temp work in offices...which lead to a full time job in the remediation and reclamation field. I couldn't be happier with the way my professional life progressed. I'm an unapologetic coffee addict, though the doctors say that I need to consume less. I snicker at them under my breath, thinking how I wouldn't have even made it to that appointment if I didn't have at least three caffeinated beverages in me beforehand. I enjoy image manipulation and web design, and I like to think, that with the basics I know, I've been able to produce some pretty interesting layouts. I own a few domains, the personal one being demoralize.org. I am very sarcastic & only those near & dear to me understand the hidden meaning of most of my words. I'm judgmental with new people around me in real life, perhaps because I'm loathe to trust strangers, perhaps because I've been right about them so often. I love spinach. I could eat spinach sandwiches with a side of spinach salad. I'm a smoker [Benson & Hedges 100s] and I've been smoking since an age that I don't like to admit. The Relationship: Michael and I began our courtship approximately 3 years ago. We resided in the same apartment building & had many mutual friends. However, when he first moved here, he was 'fresh off the boat' from Newfoundland & impossible to comprehend. Suffice to say, I wasn't attracted to the muttering fool at first. Suddenly I was able to decipher his yammerings. One of two things must have been happening: 1. His accent was dulling; or 2. I was starting to understand 'Newfanese'. Either way, I began to adore him. Being the fact that he's a boy & I'm not a soft-spoken girl, he was nervous to ask me out. So I attacked him in a bar one night. The rest, as they say, is history. We have no intentions of getting married or procreating. Instead we fill any gaping void in our relationship with pets. Michael is a welder who took anthropology and archeology in university. Smartest blue-collar guy I know.
